New Generation Technology

We introduce cost-saving and environmentally friendly production process featuring:

  • Unique raw material (porcellanite) mining and processing,
  • Low temperature production process,
  • High quality products meeting international quality standards.

Porcellanite is a waste material in the phosphate mining industry in Israel. The Negev Desert has a vast stock of natural porcellanite as well as waste products from the phosphate mining. Porcellanite mining and processing enables DSI to optimize production process of precipitated silica and calcium carbonate.

Two stages of liquid glass recovery are omitted in the course of DSI production process. Porcellanite is dissolved in caustic soda at a temperature of 90°C. The liquid glass solution is recovered in the course of this reaction. Silicon Dioxide is precipitated from the solution using Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The same solution is used to precipitate Calcium Carbonate. Quality silica and calcium carbonate are produced as a result of this efficient and environmentally-friendly production process.

DSI PRACTICE COMMON PRACTICE
Sea-sand refinement is used.
Sea-sand (SiO2) and soda melting at 1500°C is used.
Porcellanite crushing and screening (low-solid material). Silicate lump crushing and screening (high-solid material).
Porcellanite dissolution in caustic soda at a temperature of 90°C and recovery of the liquid glass solution in the course of reaction. Liquid glass conversion into the solution in autoclaves using high temperature and high-pressure steam.
Silicon Dioxide precipitation using Carbon Dioxide CO2 (no acids are used). Silicon Dioxide concretion using HCl, H2SO4 acids and CO2.
