The Investment Centre officials and the top managers of Dimona Silica Industries held a meeting on November, 25. The progress in project development in Dimona area was recognized by the Investment Centre committee.

DSI signed a contract on samples testing with the University of Twente (the Netherlands).
The group of researchers under the supervision of Prof. J.W.M. Noordermeer from the Rubber Technology Department will prove the high quality standards of DSI products.

The Israeli Government decided to increase the grant for factories built in the development areas of Israel from 6 to 20%. DSI shall benefit from this project as Dimona is one of the development areas.

The pilot plant was launched. DSI pilot-plant is a set of up-to-date hi-fi units ready to simulate the complete silicon dioxide and calcium carbonate production chain. The first product samples were produced. They are materials of HD class with high specific surface area. More information on technical characteristics is coming up soon.

DSI took part in the IRC 04 (International Rubber Conference) held in Moscow. The event was fruitful for DSI and resulted in signing business contacts with international research organizations and agents. The distribution contracts also were prepared.

The first foundation stone was laid at the DSI site. The ceremony in honor of this event was attended by the Israeli Vice-minister and Chairman of Industry Department, Mr. Ehud Olmert, and the Mayor of Dimona, Mr. Meer Koen. Mr. David Ben Gurion, the first Prime-minister of Israel, was the first one to express his vision of the industrial development in the Negev Desert. By laying the foundation stone and signing the Certificate of Intents DSI headquarters and Israeli government officials started putting this project in action.
